My 20 mo. old son attends daycare during the week and typically naps between 2-3 hours without a problem. On the weekends my wife and i do our best to mimic his weekday schedule. However when we try to put him down for a nap, he starts screaming like he's been shot, and we're left with a cranky baby for the rest of the day.
I have no idea what's going on or if we're doing something wrong but I'm in DESPERATE need of advice!
Maybe he just misses you during the week and wants to stay a wake on the weekends. First check your environment. Is it quiet, is the TV, radio or computer on? Are you just putting him down or are you spending some time with him prior to his nap.
Try massaging him, reading him to sleep, telling him stories. Put some scents in the air to quiet him down physically (Gentle Baby from Youngliving is a great quieting essential oil blend for relaxing anyone, never put on little ones only put on their toys or blankets) www.youngliving.org #844043.
Really if you do massage and get him really relaxed he will drift right off. Just think of things that make you tired and sleepy.
