Question: My son is 4 and he has an obsession of smelling. It has been going on for almost a year. He smells everything. If you walk past him he smells the air. If you shake his hand,he smells it. Some people think it is funny but I think it is becoming a problem. I don't know how to address this to his doctor to see if he has normal smelling glands or something. What should I do?
Answer: Dear Chantell,
Children do all sorts of peculiar things when they are growing up. Here is my rule of thumb. If he isn't hurthing himself or someone else or destroying something, then let it go.
Just spend your time enjoying him while he is little. He will be grown up and gone before you can blink your eyes and neither of you will remember he use to smell everything.
