I don't think I want children?

From: Anonymous

Subject: enjoying life

Question: Hi, I hope you can help me with your opinion. I am 30 and in a relationship with my boyfriend for 5 years. I know it probably sounds very selfish, but the older I get, the more I wish to postopone having kids. I enjoy going to movies and to the swimming pool whenever I want, taking classes whenever I want and spending all my salary on luxuries, so that I want to enjoy this as long as possible. I can also much easier develop my career, because I am not in a hurry to go home. I adore kids, but when I see my friends with children and I see all the troubles they are having 24 hours per day I just do not see a point in having children early. Am I wrong? Should I be ashamed of my thoughts?

Answer: Dear Anonymous;

I think the world is full of unhappy people adults and children who were the result of people who were unhappy and tried to bring children in the world to make themselves happier.

In other words I think that your honesty is a good thing. I think that not having children when you feel this way is a GOOD thing. I think that you should not ever feel guilty for being honest enough to say you want to be with yourself and not have children yet.

I could only wish more people would do this type of self awareness!
